Awalnya pihak produser tidak akan menyangka bila film Mr Bean Kesurupan Depe akan menuai kontroversi dan kritik pedas.

Banyak masyarakat terkecoh dengan judul yang digunakan di film yang diproduseri KK Dheeraj itu.

Nama asli pemeran tokoh "Mr Bean" di film itu pun sempat disembunyikan dan tidak ditampilkan di film maupun poster.

Pertanyaan tentang nama aktor pemeran "Mr Bean" itu pun mengundang pemberitaan di media, juga perbincangan di sosial media.

Hari ini, melalui telepon dengan Beritasatu.com, sang produser mengungkapkan nama aktor tersebut.

Seperti diperkirakan dan hasil penelusuran Beritasatu.com, pemeran Mr Bean itu memang benar bernama William Ferguson (dari data yang tercantum di situs A List Lookalikes) yang biasa dipanggil Bill Ferguson.

"Saya juga suruh orang saya cek. Dia (Bill Ferguson) panggilannya Bean, nama aslinya Bill Ferguson. Kami semua memanggilnya Beanaly. Nama [yang tercantum dalam] kontrak: Bill Ferguson," kata Dheeraj.

Mengomentari tentang tuduhan penipuan publik atau merugikan penonton yang ia lakukan atas nama Mr Bean, Dheeraj menjawab, "Saya sudah jelaskan dari awalnya, kita ini tidak pernah menulis di poster nama Rowan Atkinson. '[Mr] Bean' hanyalah karakter. Orang yang saya panggil, [William Ferguson] memerankan tokoh 'Mr Bean'. Harap klarifikasi bahwa dari pihak saya tidak melakukan penipuan publik."

Ditekankan Dheeraj, mengenai alasannya tidak bicara tentang identitas asli "Mr Bean" di fillm itu sejak awal hanyalah sebagai upaya bisnis. "Tapi sudah seperti ini kalau Anda di posisi saya juga, Anda tidak mungkin ngomong. Terserah mereka. Ini tokoh 'Mr Bean' beneran. Karakter. Bukan Rowan Atkinson."

Di Inggris, menurut Dheeraj, sudah ada puluhan orang yang memerankan karakter Mr Bean. "Tapi pihak aslinya tidak mempermasalahkan karena karakter yang diperankan. Mereka yang menggunakan karakter 'Mr Bean' dan tidak pernah menyebutkan nama pemerannya adalah Rowan Atkinson," ungkap Dheeraj lagi.
